The event gathered about 50 participants – scientists, practitioners and planning specialists from state and non-governmental sector interested in ecosystem services concept development in Latvia. 

Latest results of LIFE EcosystemServices project – experience on ecosystem services economic valuation, elaboration of development scenarios and their economic valuation as well as ecosystem services assessment incorporation in project monitoring has been presented.   

During second part of the event guest speakers presented their latest results from projects LIFE REstore, LIFE Viva Grass, BASMATI “Baltic sea maritime spatial planning for sustainable ecosystem services” and Latvian State Forest Research Institute “SILAVA”. Ecosystem services evaluation methodology application in Latvia was the main focus of all presentations. Wetlands, forests, grasslands and marine ecosystems and their services are in topic of these projects which jointly develop Latvian experience on ecosystem services identification and evaluation. 

Discussion was organized within collaboration of "LIFE EcosystemServices" project (Nr. LIFE13 ENV/LV/000839), LIFE+ programme projects "LIFE VIVA GRASS" (Nr. LIFE13 ENV/LT/000189) and European Union Horizon 2020 programme project "ESMERALDA".
