Public discussion has been started on the revised version of the Development Programme of Saulkrasti Region 2014-2020; it will last until September 30, 2019.

Ecosystem services approach has been integrated into the programme, providing support for long-term decision making and promoting balanced economic development and use of nature resources. This approach analyses benefits and drawbacks of different development scenarios and serves as a planning and prognosis tool. The aim of ecosystem services approach is to ensure development of an area in the most reasonable way, which is least destructive for natural environment.
