Materials for environmental education activities in Nature Design Park “White Dune” in Saulkrasti have been prepared within the LIFE EcosystemServices Projects and are available for download here (in Latvian).
Methodological material is designed for guides, teachers, camp leaders and any other active people planning a visit on their own or with a group to Nature Design Park “White Dune”.
The area is easy to reach, well-equipped and diverse part of Latvian coastline providing possibilities to learn more about sandy dunes and dune forests as well as observe dynamic coastal processes on the steep slope of the White Dune. The aim of environmental class in the area of White Dune is to demonstrate interaction between man and nature, using ecosystem services approach as one of the means.
The Nature Design Park “White Dune” was created in autumn 2016. With the help of sculptural images and environmental information visitors are encouraged to respect and learn more about nature and its processes. All objects are placed along the existing trails of the White Dune, so the park can be enjoyed in about half an hour while walking from the parking lot towards the beach. We strongly advise you to try out the most attractive design object – “Listen to the nature” – it is a hearing device in the form of a trumpet letting you hear the nuances of nature sounds, e.g., the whisper of sea waves, pines and wind.
