Almost 250 participants have taken part in the events focusing on possibilities of integrating the topic of ecosystem services into the school and university curricula.

On November 26 the concluding event devoted to education topic was organized in Saulkrasti. Entitled “Environmental education possibilities along Latvian seacoast” it gathered natural sciences and informal education teachers to present possibilities of using the topic of ecosystem services in school classes, excursions and outdoor activities. The Project team has been organizing events for schoolchildren, students and teachers on regular basis since 2015, both in the Project pilot territory in Saulkrasti as well as by visiting schools and universities. For example, we organized practice days for master students of the Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences of the University of Latvia; and involved local (Saulkrasti) high school students in research on the environmental awareness among Saulkrasti local community. Students from three universities were involved in the process of creating nature design park “White dune” in Saulkrasti, elaborating and presenting environmental design solutions for the territory as part of their studies. Environmental education materials (methodology, work sheets, etc.) have been elaborated specifically for the nature design park “White dune” in Saulkrasti within the “LIFE Ecosystem Services” Project. Those can be accessed and downloaded freely by anyone here.
