On 7th of December in European Union house in Riga project 4th seminar "Ecosystem Services evaluation - new approach in territorial planning" took place.
Seminar was attended by spatial planners of Latvian municipalities and private inistitutions as well as by the representatives of Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia.
During the seminar participants were introduced with project activities, results of ecosystem services mapping in project pilot areas, as well as with the solutions in White Dune area in Saulkrasti town where nature design objects were set up.
During the seminar representatives of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia presented the newest information about spatial planning policy, as well as representative of private company SIA "Ardenis" presented the methodology of ecosystem services economical evaluation.
Some spatial planning professionals shared their knowledge and experience regarding territorial planning and ecosystem services theme.
In the 2nd part of seminar participants had the opportunity to choose the most suitable development scenarios for project pilot areas - Jaunķemeri and Saulkrasti.
During the seminar also project short film about ecosystem services evaluation was demonstrated.

Seminar was organized in the framework of project LIFE13 ENV/LV/000839 "LIFE EcoystemServices" which is implemented by the Nature Conservation Agency of Latvia, association "Baltic Coasts" and Saulkrasti Municipality. Project is co-financed by the European Union and Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
