In the project "LIFE EcosystemServices" developed ecosystem services assessment approach will be approbated in two coastal pilot areas - Jaunķemeri and Saulkrasti.

Both pilot areas are chosen because of their biological value on national and European level, as well as significance for the whole coastline from the economic, cultural and aesthetic point of view.

Ecosystem services economic evaluation in both areas will help to create sustainable development and management scenarios of these areas.

Selected areas contains different habitats that are continuously changing because of the human and nature impact. Those habitats form coastal ecosystem.

Comparative analysis of both pilot areas will help to assess how different human activities and their intensity affect specific ecosystem services.
